III International Consumer Protection Week

The closing event of the 3rd International Consumer Protection Week organized by the Competition and Consumer Agency, the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC), the Insurance State Supervision Service, the National Bank of Georgia, the Communications Commission and the National Food Agency was held in Batumi with the participation of relevant stakeholders.

Speakers at the event included Archil Chikovani, Mayor of Batumi; Jaba Putkaradze, Minister of Finance and Economy of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara; Vladimir Bozhadze, Member of the Parliament of Georgia; David Onoprishvili, Head of the Insurance State Supervision Service; Irakli Lekvinadze, Chairman of the Competition and Consumer Protection Agency (GCCA); and Davit Narmania, Chairman of GNERC.

As part of Consumer Protection Week, informational and working meetings were held from March 10 to 15 in Tbilisi, Akhalkalaki, Zugdidi, and Batumi, with the participation of representatives from regulatory agencies, members of Parliament, central and regional government officials, international organizations, the Georgian Deaf Union, the Georgian Blind Union, as well as representatives from the business sector, academia, and non-governmental organizations.

During the panel discussion, representatives of six regulatory agencies responsible for consumer rights protection engaged in a Q&A session, where stakeholders discussed in detail how consumers can protect their rights, whom to contact in case of violations and the procedures involved.
