The event was opened with speeches by Member of the Parliament of Georgia, Samvel Manukyan; First Deputy State Representative of the Samtskhe-Javakheti Region, Davit Vardiashvili; Mayor of Akhalkalaki Municipality, Melkon Makarian; Chairman of the Competition and Consumer Agency, Irakli Lekvinadze; Head of the Insurance State Supervision Service, David Onoprishvili; and Chairman of GNERC, Davit Narmania.
As part of the 3rd International Consumer Protection Week, one of the key priorities is ensuring the active engagement of people with disabilities and representatives of ethnic minorities, as well as providing them with equal access to information.
During a panel discussion, six regulatory agencies responsible for consumer protection reviewed their achievements, challenges and enforcement mechanisms. The meeting was conducted in a Q&A format, where detailed answers were provided on how consumers can protect their rights, whom to contact in case of violations and in what manner.
As part of the week’s activities, additional consumer awareness meetings will be held on March 14 in Zugdidi and March 15 in Batumi.
