TEACHERS’ COMPETITION ‘’FINANCIAL EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS"
Under the organization of National Bank of Georgia, Financial education platform - www.finedu.gov.ge (hereinafter – Finedu), Ministry of Education and Science, LEPL Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia and the engagement and support of Forum of Georgian Civil Education Teachers, JSC Bank of Georgia, JSC TBC Bank, JSC Basis Bank, JSC Liberty Bank, JSC Credo Bank, JSC PSP Insurance and JSC Insurance Group of Georgia, the competition has been announced for school teachers".
Competition goals and general objectives:
1. To encourage and motivate teachers in getting interested in financial education and sharing experience and knowledge with their peers.
2. To collate ancillary materials for teachers in order to help them in their work and to contribute to efficient study of financial literacy foreseen under the National Curriculum
3. To increase efficiency of the financial education in youth
In the modern world, financial education is believed to be a competency that is needed for a daily living. Financially educated consumers have better understanding of financial issues and products, they have the knowledge, skills and belief to make an informed choice. They make decisions with a higher sense of responsibility, they know whom to apply for an advice and they act in a way that improves their financial welfare.
In accordance with the recommendations of competent international organizations and best practice, the financial education shall be provided from the school age, as earlier as possible. In which case, the study will be much more efficient and important for developing the young generation with higher sense of responsibility and long-term financial welfare. For this reason, financial literacy issues are already foreseen at different levels of the National Curriculum.
