David Onoprishvili attended Eastern Cooperation Conference of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) in Frankfurt am main
European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) Eastern Cooperation Conference took place on 10 September 2024 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany on September 10. The aim of the conference was to foster cooperation with a focus on non-EEA jurisdictions in the Eastern European and Western Balkan areas that have an interest in adapting or implementing the EU risk-based insurance legislation. The conference focused on information sharing on regulation and supervisory practices on prudential and conduct topics, where the chairman of Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia, Mr. David Onoprishvili was invited by the organization to attend the meeting.
The conference focused on sharing information on regulatory and supervisory practices, addressing sustainability issues in the European insurance market and the impact of inflation between regions. In the panel discussions held within the scope of the conference various topics were discussed, namely: natural disasters related to climate change, risk-based supervision and its control in a changing environment and updates on Solvency II.
In addition to the conference, within the framework of the visit, Mr. David Onoprishvili held meetings in Germany with Petra Hielkema - EIOPA Chairman, Peter Braumüller - Austrian Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FMA) in the direction of insurance and pension supervision and Ante Žigman, PhD - President of the Board of the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (Hanfa).
The mentioned meetings aimed to enhance international insurance supervision and regulatory standards in Georgia, as well as their implementation.
